Grand Forks is a city with a long history marked by technological, academic, economic and military contributions to the state of North Dakota and, by extension, the United States.

Even before the arrival of the European settlers the location of the city on the Great Plains was an important meeting point for the indigenous Indian communities.

After the advent of the European settlers, it became a trading post. And on February 22, 1881, the city was officially incorporated.

It has since grown to become the third-largest city in the state of North Dakota and the seat of the local county government.

The University of North Dakota is at the center of Grand Fork’s ecosystem

At the center of the city’s ecosystem is the University of North Dakota. UND, as it is fondly referred to by its students, members of staff and the surrounding community, opened its gates for the first time in 1884.

Apart from being the third largest employer in the city, there are is a lot of technological, entrepreneurial, art and culture advances taking place here.

It is against this backdrop that on January 8, 2015, CoinOutlet installed a Bitcoin ATM. The machine is located at the UND’s Center For Innovation Foundation.

The Center For Innovation Foundation is a tech entrepreneur outreach center started in 1984. It is a place where innovators, entrepreneurs, and researchers launch new ventures as well as commercialize new technologies.

One of the entities that operate from this center is Digital Kiosk Systems, a company that offers various products in the area of crypto currencies, including digital currency kiosks (BTM).

Indeed, CoinOutlet partnered with Digital Kiosk Systems to make an Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) compliant ATM a reality at UND.

This machine will enable members of the university community, residents of Grand Forks and visitors to fast, conveniently and securely exchange bitcoins for dollars and vice versa.

The good news is that the services do not come with any fees nor are users of bitcoin limited to how much they can exchange.
